President's welcome for the year 2011/2012

On behalf of the Student’s Association, congratulations on choosing the University of Abertay Dundee! I hope your time with at Abertay is the start of a productive, memorable and enjoyable part of life.

My name is William Mohieddeen (you may get to know me as Mocko, feel welcome to call me that!) and I am your elected president for 2011-12. My role is to represent you as a member of Students’ Association to the University to ensure the needs and concerns of students are considered and used as part of the University’s decision-making process.

Whoever you may be reading this welcome, you bring to the University a unique quality to offer, that makes you, and altogether this institution, stand out from the others. What that is can only be found out by you during your time here - this is where the UADSA comes in! We are your elected representatives to ensure that your journey to unearthing those unique qualities is as smooth as possible. We represent you at university, local, national and international levels to ensure the issues you face as a student are heard and afford you the space to allow your skills to flourish, and your potential to be achievable.

The strength of the UADSA doesn’t solely rely on the two sabbatical officers, it is dependent on every student that feels they have the skills and character to help guide the organisation that speaks for Abertay students. Because of this, I implore you all to be involved, whether you want to start a society, sit on the Student Representative Council, the UADSA is here to help you along the way.

Abertay is a very diverse and active university, and we are proud of it being so. There is plenty to be involved in around your studies in the way of societies, events and also sport teams. The University have a great Student Support service that we work closely with to ensure that you get the most out your time at Abertay, in the way of careers advice, financial advice, study help… any questions you may have, just ask us!

A final note to please be connected with us.
