Vice President's welcome for the year 2011/12

Hello and welcome to the University of Abertay Dundee Students’ Association. My name is Simon and I am your Students’ Association Vice President.

I am here to help you with any issues or problems that you might face being a student at Abertay. You are as important as everyone else and I am happy to help whatever your problem is, even if it isn’t actually related to academic life or the Students’ Association (UADSA).

UADSA is the Abertay student organisation that you are already a member of. It is run by students for students and without your involvement it cannot be effective enough. I would like to encourage you to not only take part in most of our campaigns and social events, but also get involved in the academic side of the Students’ Association as well. For example you could be one of the new Class Representatives and be an important member of the decision making process of UADSA.

University is indeed the best time of your life and we’ve made sure that you make the most out of it. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to get involved in a wide range of activities and events. Abertay is not only a place to study, but it also gives you a chance to socialise, meet others and make friends for life and the Students’ Association provides a lot of activities and support for you over the course of your time at this University. We already have societies that you can join (the International Students' Society, the LGBT Society, the Psychology Society, the Linux Society, the Christian Union and many more) and if you feel the need for a new society I will do my best to help you start up one.

Any questions you would like to ask, please come and see myself or William in our offices and we will be happy to help. We are located on the 2nd floor of the Student Centre building next to the entrance of the Sports Bar.

I hope that you’re already having a brilliant time at Abertay and I look forward seeing you around campus. Don’t forget that UADSA is Your Students’ Association, Your Voice.
