The Abertay Business Society and the Abertay Career Development Centre work together to make sure that members of the society (and all business and management students) know what opportunities are available and make sure the careers centre give out information that students want.
This page of our mini-site is run by the society's Head of Social Media who is also the Social Media Assistant within the Careers Centre. This page aims to make business and management students aware of the opportunities that exist but also an opportunity for the members of the society to voice what they actually want to know about.
For more information on the Abertay Career Development Centre, check out their website, Facebook, Twitter and their vacancy site.
Business is quite a vast area with many different degrees on offer and many differing career paths. At Abertay we have finance students, general management students, marketing students and economics students. However many of these degrees are versatile and transferable. General management students can apply to jobs in strategy development, insurance and management consultancy as well as marketing and finance which some might believe are jobs strictly for individuals that studied that subject. Same as a student that studied European Economy Management doesn't have to become an economic advisor to a European company. There is enough cross-over in the courses that options are wider than they appear. However if you wish to become an accountant, a degree in accountancy is essential.

The companies listed below all offer internships and graduate recruitment programmes in many areas of business, all of which have Scottish offices (or in the case of Saltire are international internships for students with a Scottish connection). Getting an internship is great work experience and also in these economic times reports are emerging that the students most likely to land graduate placements (especially with the big companies) are those who had an internship whilst studying, and in many cases companies only selecting graduates who has previously interned with them.
