The Abertay Business Society works in partnership with the Scottish Institute for Enterprise to bring in events and guest speakers which are useful for students who wish to start their own company or part-time venture.

From their site:

We aim to increase the number of students who consider entrepreneurship a real option during and after their studies through a number of activities and events. The national New Ideas Competition is for those who might have an idea but haven't taken steps toward making it a reality. The summer Bootcamp programme is another entry-point for students who know they want to start their own venture but haven't taken the first steps, or don't even yet have a new idea.

SIE has interns at each university to help promote the events and competitions that SIE run, as well as hosting their own events. Abertay's Intern is Justin McGirr, who is the society's Head of Enterprising Activity. There are also three SIE Ambassadors at the university who help Justin promote these activities within their school year.

SIE Intern: Justin McGirr

In order to promote their entrepreneurial activities the Scottish Institute for Enterprise employs an intern at each Scottish campus to promote their events and spread the SIE word. Abertay's intern is Justin McGirr. Justin is a final year Management student in DBS and was the very first President of our society. This is a paid roll which anyone can apply for (you don't have to be a business student!) and the candidate is chosen just like any other job. We always let people know when applications have opened.

SIE Ambassadors

Also at each campus the interns are free to hire voluntary SIE ambassadors to help spread the word further. Justin has chosen to have one from each academic year (who are also ambassadors for the society in general) so that maximum coverage of the business school can be achieved.
